This was the first day that actually felt like summer, despite being out of school for over a month. We planned a pool party under the name "Kitten Kite VIPool Party." The plan was to a have a Zelda/kitten-themed, Wayne's World, all 3 X-Men, The Phantom, and Batman: TAS watching, board game-playing, kite flying pool party held every Wednesday. We accomplished about a fourth of these things, but mostly just got drunk and took a nap after we swam.

What was your first car?
My first and only car: The Grey Ghost, a 1985 BMW 535i. And, technically, it's not even mine, my dad is just nice enough to let me drive it around everywhere. For being 23 years old, it is an amazing vehicle. You know, when it's not having some mystery problem that no one can quite figure out. But the Grey Ghost has a soul and fuzzy seats that can never be replaced.
It's also quite comfortable to sleep in when I can't find anywhere else.
And I've never met another car that takes 40 MPH turns quite like it (not even the Z3, which I had a little accident with testing this). I've also never outrun gang members in Oak Cliff in a faster car. All in all, Grey Ghost, I salute you.
This Monday my friend Christina and I went to the scavenger hunt for the Dark Knight viral marketing thing at North Park in Dallas.
Anyway, the scavenger hunt was fun, at least for the part that we were able to accomplish. The mall cops did not appreciate a bunch of people in face paint running around the mall, so we were kicked out pretty fast.
Here's what happened after we were kicked out (these are my friend's videos, and her commentary):
If you're still interested, here is my friend's Flickr account with her pictures from the day.
So last weekend I was watching a cooking show on PBS, and it inspired me to bake a cake.
Then this Friday I had kind of a baking extravaganza which started with some banana bread.
And a delicious veggie pot pie for dinner. And, again, I forgot to take a picture after it came out of the oven, but this is what was left after dinner. It was filled with carrots, zucchini, squash, eggplant, mushrooms, green peppers, celery, and cheese. There was a fruit salad, too, with mango, a green apple, kiwis, and pineapple. Freshly cut pineapple is easily the most delicious food.
For dessert I made this amazing coffee-flavored cheesecake. It was my first cheesecake to make and I think it came out pretty good.
Now I just have to figure out what to bake next weekend.
I moved back into my dorm today, and much to my surprise, no roommate!
I
began moving furniture around and realized how incredibly disgusting
and dusty the floor was. I went downstairs to check the vacuum out, and
on my way down, I saw a familiar woman carrying a rug. I couldn't quite
place who this woman was, but I didn't really dwell on it.
I took
the vacuum up to my room, and was in the process of vacuuming when I
turned it off for a moment, to move some things around. I heard a knock
on my door, checked the peephole, but whoever it was was standing too
far off to the side. I opened the door cautiously, but it was the
familiar woman from before, who upon closer inspection was none other
but Sabrina's mother. I awkwardly greeted her with a "heyyyy," but she
did not stand for any pleasantries, and demanded the refrigerator that
Sabrina and I split the cost for. So I took out the yogurt I had in the
'fridge and set it on my desk while she stood, watching me. I offered
her the microwave, too (included with the cost of the refrigerator),
but she insisted that I take it, since I paid half. She dragged the
'fridge out, and I was still in shock that the encounter happened. I
grabbed my phone and typed out "Oh god. Another awkward encounter with
Sabrina's mother. WHAT THE HELL." and meant to send it to Dillon. But
for whatever reason my brain wasn't working properly and I sent it to
Sabrina on accident. I canceled the text immediately, hoping that maybe
it wouldn't actually send. I got a "failed" error, and I figured I was
safe, so I went on to send an actual text to Dillon. I started
vacuuming again, and heard my phone go off. I prayed that it was
Dillon, but no. Not with my luck. It was Sabrina. "I told her to leave
it, but she insisted that we paid for half, sorry." I think I actually
dropped my phone, how does my life get so uncomfortably awkward so
regularly? I responded back, saying I hadn't actually meant to send
that to her, apologizing, and telling her it was okay for taking the
refrigerator.
After vacuuming, I took the antique vacuum back to the
front desk, got my ID, and began walking to my room. Not too far down
the hall I could see that both Sabrina and her mother were walking
right towards me. There was no escape. So I couldn't help it, I began
laughing, nearly hysterically, because, of course, this would happen to
me, and I was still too far away to say, "hello," or wave. Once we got
closer, but still not close enough, Sabrina uttered a "hey," and I,
still giggling to myself, burst out with a "HEY!" and an exaggerated
wave. Then once I got to the stairs, I dashed up them as fast as I
could to get back to my room to hide away in my awkwardness.
Cool. Too bad I never got to race my Black Sunshine against your Grey Ghost down the Dallas N. Tollway. read more
